Hand, Foot, Mouth, oh my!

After lunch John and I noticed little white blisters all over Jordan's hands. Since we were out we stopped by the doctor's office. Being lunch time the doctor was leaving for lunch, so we made an appoinment for 4:00 pm. After the kids got home from school I loaded them into the van despite the moans and groans of, "I don't want to go." I went to the dentist earlier and had work done on my teeth. My mouth was just "waking up" and the pain was starting so my response to them, "I don't want to go either!" We wait and wait and wait in a room full of sick children. Jordan found some Goldfish crackers on the floor and helped herself, but was nice enough to offer some to other little ones around her. At least she's getting the sharing thing down. Once the room was cleared out, it was our turn. We didn't wait long for the doctor to come in. She quickly diagnosed her with hand, foot, mouth disease. Which is an infection caused by a very contagious virus. There is no treatment and it should last about a week. http://www.caringforkids.cps.ca/whensick/HandFootandMouth.htm I asked if I needed to be worried about everyone catching this. She told me toddlers catch it, older children and adults usually don't. If we do it may be like a cold. I explained to her, the only reason I knew about hand, foot, mouth is because an adult friend of ours caught it from his nephew. So great. Jordan shared my drink and fed John the french fries! It doesn't look good.

That doesn't sound fun! I hope she gets better soon and that no one else in your family gets it!
