This Week @ the Ricks' Home

Thinking back over this week, the days are still kind of a blur. Power came back on at our house Wednesday so the week feels all out of whack. I'm so thankful that our life can just pick up where we left off a week ago. My heart aches for those who have so much to go through before they can move on and get life back to normal.

All day Thursday I kept planning Family Home Evening then remembering it was not Monday, it was Thursday!

Friday morning we went on a field trip to Maggie Moo's. It was our first visit to Maggie Moo's ever. We each had a turn going behind the counter and creating our very own treat. I thought it was interesting to find out that the Maggie Moo's we visited is the busiest in the US, but they have the smallest store. I forgot my camera so I am stuck with phone photos.

We enjoyed our treat sitting by the fountain.

Funny story...well, I can laugh about it now.
Our yard was in desparate need of mowing but our riding lawn mower needed a new battery. I went and picked one up so I could cut the yard before my hubby got home as a thank you for all the help he gives me. I changed out the battery and tried to start the mower, nothing. What? John said it had gas in it, but I checked the tank and found it was empty. Ugh. I jumped in the van and drove to the closest gas station for a gallon of gas. Of course, the card reader was out of order and I had go inside to wait in line. As soon as I filled the gas tank, a tube start leaking. Really? I tried to start it. Yay! At least it started. Now the back tire needed air. I took our air pump and tried to fill the tire but nothing happened. I tried pumping up the other tire, just to make sure I was doing it right, and it worked just fine. I tried the flat tire again. Still nothing. At this point I was determined to cut the yard. Nothing was going to stop me! I decided to try to mow at least the front yard. I went to our double wide gate on our new fence, pushed it open, and it got stuck. It wouldn't open more than a few inches. Seriously! The gate was too low and hit the sidewalk. After ALL that the mower was trapped in the back yard! I had to laugh or I may have cried. John called a friend of ours and he was nice enough to load up his push mower and let me borrow it for a few hours. Thank you, Jackmans. I was still able to cut the front yard before John got home from work!

Saturday John and I took the opportunity to work with the Mormon Helping Hands to serve those who needed help with the damage from the tornadoes. Our work order took us to homes with trees down on fences. A friend that was working in our group said, "You don't realize how many branches are on a tree until you carry away every single one of them." Check out our awesome bright yellow shirts!

We plan on helping out next weekend as well.

I enjoyed Mother's Day. I have such a wonderful husband and children! Jordan and Gavin made me a bunch of handmade cards. Then brought me pop tart breakfast in bed. My husband is the BEST at making me feel special and loved! With all of the craziness around here with disaster clean up and stuff, we are celebrating Mother's Day at church next Sunday. Looking forward to hearing my little ones sing in Sacrament Meeting! Something I learned after church. When your husband says "let's go," listen, or you may get snagged by a member of the Bishopric and asked to give a talk next Sunday. That's right. I'm speaking in Sacrament on Sunday! I can already feel the butterflies in my tummy.
