This Week @ the Ricks' Home

I've never been a fan of Monday. To make Monday even worse, it is cleaning day. The day to get the house back in order after the weekend. This last Monday I did NOT want to get out of bed. Which isn't that unsual, especially for a Monday, but I was having, what I call, a blah day. Then a friend called. That was just what I needed to get my booty out of bed to start the day. Later my friend came over and we went to lunch. It's amazing what a good friend and Chinese food can do for your mood! Thanks, Juli! With your kick in the pants on Monday I was able to start my week off right. I kept up with all the daily chores this week. No mountains of laundry begging to be folded and no dishes lining the counter tops. It felt good. I do have to thank my awesome husband who helped when I needed it.

As part of FHE we sang I Know That My Redeemer Lives. Aryn decided she wanted to learn to play it on the piano. She taught herself how to play. It's been lovely hearing her play that song randomly throughout the week!

I finally used my amazing mixer John gave me as my Valentine's gift.

I made something yummy for FHE treat. Basically you put peanut butter cookie dough in a 9x9 baking dish, cover with chocolate chips, and bake. Did I say yummy?

We enjoyed our school week of learning about and discussing the last week of Jesus' life. Our study plan for the week was broken down into daily sections with each section focusing on what happened that day of the week in Christ's life, including His crucifixion on Friday and resurrection on Sunday. Every evening we would read from the scriptures as a family then hang pictures that represented what we read.

Then this morning we woke up early to talk about the resurrection. We made a tasty breakfast...eggs, bacon, and resurrection rolls. You use crescent rolls, large marshmallows, melted butter, and cinnamon/sugar. First, you dip the marshmallow in the butter, representing the oil used in anointing Christ's body for burial. Then, you roll the marshmallow in cinnamon/sugar, representing the spices used to prepare Christ's body for burial. Next, you wrap the marshmallow tightly in the crescent dough triangle, representing the linen wrapping Christ's body. Make sure to pinch all seams closed.

When it is done baking, the marshmallow is melted leaving the roll empty. Just like the tomb.

They are very good, too. I ate 3 this morning!

We watched the He Is Risen movie from Living Scriptures. Then we read about Christ's resurrection and finished hanging the pictures on the wall.

Here's a picture about Jesus that Jordan drew today. On the left side is a picture of Jesus saying I love Jordan. On the right side, Jordan is on Calvary Hill. Two crosses on one side of her and Jesus on the cross on the other side, where she wrote I love Jesus. So sweet!

Extended family came to our house today to celebrate. Instead of traditional ham we had Ward's spaghetti.
After dinner we had a little egg hunt.

Even the big girls had fun!

Then is was time for dessert. I made my new favorite. A recipe from the Jones family. I hope they don't mind if I share. I make it all of the time now.

It's layered chocolate chip cookie, cream cheese, chocolate pudding, and cool whip. Super easy, super yummy. You can't beat that.

I just noticed I talk about food a lot in this post. Lots of good food this week @ the Ricks' home!

Those desserts sound good. I'll have to make them.
